Acer Groundworks specialises in providing the best solutions for a wide range of outlets where mains drainage is not available. As consultants we work very closely with leading manufacturers enabling us to use the latest technology to produce a cost effective, long term solution for both domestic and commercial installations. We also ensure you gain all relevant approvals from the necessary agencies including lawful discharge licenses from the Environment Agency and Building Control approval from your local authority for any new installation.
Packaged Sewage Treatment Plants operate by cleansing liquor to a high enough standard to enable consented discharge into ground or a water course. To ensure our customers receive high quality installations we work with leading brand names in this specialist area who design and manufacture cost effective products that comply with the Environment Agency’s exacting standards.
Septic Tanks are typically two or three chamber systems where the sewage sludge is retained for sufficient time and under appropriate conditions, to partially break down (anaerobic decomposition) from which an effluent discharge takes place. A Septic Tank should be de-sludged at least every 12 months. They are always accompanied by a suitably sized sub-surface irrigation system (soak-away) They can only be used when the ground conditions are very porous.
Cesspools are sealed sewage storage tanks with no outfall which are emptied regularly as necessary to prevent overflow; however, in the modern environment they are not used frequently as they do not contribute effectively to the green economy and are no longer subsidised within the local authority rating system. In addition the large increase in domestic water usage, in some cases 5 fold over the past 40 years, makes their life cycle cost uneconomic.
